How to fill mid-week tables without discounting your way there
Weekend-full and Tuesday-empty is a marketing problem with a specific fix. It is rarely a discount.
Mid-week is where the margin leaks
A full weekend hides a lot. The nights that decide whether a restaurant is comfortable or precarious are the quiet ones, because the fixed costs run whether the room is full or not.
Broad awareness campaigns rarely move a Tuesday. Specific reasons do.
Give people a reason, not a discount
A discount trains guests to wait for the next one and drags your average spend down permanently. A reason β a set menu, a guest chef, a small format that only runs mid-week β creates an occasion at full margin.
The framing matters as much as the offer.
Target the real catchment
Your market is a radius, not a category. Define the streets people will genuinely travel from on a weeknight and run campaigns inside that boundary. Everything spent outside it is a donation.
Remove friction from the booking
If the reservation takes more than thirty seconds on a phone, the campaign is paying for people who will not finish. Two taps from the ad or the search result to a confirmed table is the standard worth holding.
